  Rolls Royce Phantom 1 Brewster Bodied Phaeton
  Chassis No. 22RF. Bearing Engine No. EW55T.
• Notes:
  The chassis, a long chassis variant, was passed "off test" in July 1927 and forwarded to the Royal Coachbuilders Hooper & Co where it was clothed with landaulette coachwork. By the 1930's it had arrived in Australia and was noted in Victoria bearing registration no KM 687 by July 1947. By the 1970's it was sold as a bare chassis to a New South Wales purchaser, passing through the hands of three enthusiast owners before being purchased by Ronald McLeod of Brisbane in the 1980's. McLeod commissioned renowned coachbuilder Peter Lamb of New South Wales to execute a replica sports touring body in the style of the famous Brewster Ascot Tourer, resulting in a stylish and low-slung body which was the envy of rival coachbuilders in the late 1920's and still turns heads today. Lachlan and Kerry Ely were great vintage Rolls-Royce enthusiasts and the proud owners of a 1921 Silver Ghost bearing period saloon coachwork by Sydney coachbuilders Jackson, Jones & Collins. Whilst they enjoyed motoring in the car immensely, it really was an open tourer that they preferred and upon seeing a photograph of 22RF in all its splendour in the 1998 Melbourne International Motor Show auction catalogue, they were determined to seize the opportunity and attended the auction with the express intent of purchasing the car. The hammer fell in their favour, but they were not to enjoy the much-anticipated pleasure of open road touring in their latest purchase as Lachlan, a skilled engineer with a string of concours-winning restorations to his credit, decided that the Rolls-Royce mechanicals were not up to the standard of the coachwork. A total mechanical restoration was then undertaken by Lachlan and the result is there for all to see today. The car's first major outing following its restoration was a trouble-free excursion across the Nullabor Plain to Western Australia in 2000. The following 15 years saw 22RF in regular action, undertaking several long-distance excursions throughout Victoria with an occasional interstate trip thrown in for good measure. In recent years, the car was not used as much as its owners would like owing to illness but always remained well-cared for and is presented here in fine running and cosmetic order. A recent demonstration run startled users on a nearby freeway as it swept down the outside lane with the 7 ½ litre engine propelling the car effortlessly at speeds which would have attracted the attention of any police in the vicinity. This a vintage Rolls-Royce of immense style and presence with commensurate performance which will ensure its new custodian a warm welcome at both Concours and Rolls-Royce Owners Club events.<R>
