    Ceremonial Sword
    blade steel, sheath wood with brass banding and a brass chain. The handle is horn and carved in the shape of a tiger's head. Said to have belonged to the Rajah of Psiantir Psiantir, Toba Batak, North Sumatra

    Peter Elliot Collection #126; gift of Rev. Dr. Sianipar, whose wife, Dr. Sianipar (gynaecologist) Dr. Elliot operated on in 1967
  • Notes:
    Dr Peter Elliott AM was a well known Sydney art collector. He generously left an outstanding collection of Indonesian artefacts to the University of Sydney’s museums as a bequest. Dr Elliott was a long-time supporter of the University and its museums. Following a careful assessment the University has decided to sell a small portion of the collection at auction. The items being offered in this sale are mainly duplicates or items that fall outside areas of focus for the University’s collections. Funds raised from the sale will go towards the conservation, care and research of the Elliott Collection.
