    From The Old Testament, 1754, Paris. Longchamps (S.G.) and Jean Janvier. Mappe Monde contenant les Parties Connues du Globe Terrestre, double-hemisphere hand-coloured world wall map, general title cartouche upper centre, separate title banderoles above each hemisphere, celestial hemispheres and armillary sphere below, decorative border 17 panels of the Creation story, Noah’s Ark, the Tower of Babel, and the origins of the Arts, Architecture, and Agriculture, engraved map by Chambon, with full hand-colouring, on eight sheets (the map in two, the border in six), joined, approx. 120 x 150cm. overall. Laid down on canvas; some paper thinning with loss in places, almost entirely in text areas outside map. Missing text reinstated in manuscript.
