  Prout, John Skinner. Tasmania Illustrated by J.S. Prout. Vol. I. [– II] Hobart Town. 1844.
  Two parts, folio, the first part with coloured lithographed title-page and a further uncoloured lithographed title + eleven (of twelve) views on ten (of eleven) plates in the first part (wanting plate 10, “Queen’s Orphan School”), the second part complete with six plates, some foxing, titles trimmed and laid down at the time of binding, bound in old half morocco. Hobart, J.S. Prout, 1844 – 1846.
• Notes:
  Prout’s famous series of Tasmanian lithographs, with the very rare complete second part, is virtually unknown on the market. Having completed his series of Sydney views, Prout returned with them to Sydney, coming back to Van Diemen’s Land with his family. Prout commenced publication of this second series of views, Tasmania Illustrated, within a few months of his arrival in 1844. Tasmania Illustrated, possibly Prout’s most mature work, was published in two folio volumes, issued in wrappers, between 1844 and 1846. The first volume of twelve views on eleven plates was first issued in four parts and then as one collected volume. The second volume of six plates was issued in one part.
