Rare: the first printed account of the wreck and subsequent rescue of the two survivors, John Ireland and William D’Oyley, by Captain Lewis in the Isabella. Comprising an entire column of the first page, the account is the earliest news of the discovery of the wreck, the brutal murders of the crew and passengers, including the names of the murdered passengers and crew, and of the two young survivors. -
