    An Indian bronze dancing figure of Shiva Nataraj, circa 18th/19th century
    raised on an oval lotus base his right leg standing on Apasmaru Purusha, the demon of ignorance, backed by open-mouthed makara, the left foot raised symbolic of liberation, and holding a damaru (drum) in his outstretched right hand, representing the five rhythms of manifestation, and the ratna (flaming jewel) in the left outstreched hand, and wearing elaborate jewellery and headdress
