  An early 19thC French collection of 53 bronze medals
  ‘Galerie Metallique des Grands Hommes Français’, part of a medal series struck mainly between 1816 and 1826 with a portrait of a celebrated person with simple biographical information on the reverse, it has been noted that 119 medals were allocated to the series. Housed in two trays within a 19thC rosewood display box with recessed brass stringing, edging and fittings, double flap top and single drawer base, complete with key. A list is included of the various notables.
