  • Lot Description:
A 1912 Metz 22 in barn find condition
Chassis: TBCCharles Herman Metz at the behest of the bank took over the ailing Waltham Manufacturing Company of Waltham, Massachusetts. A man of vision and ideas, including the Metz-Air-Car of which only one was built, the Company did not however meet with huge success. Cars were produced in fairly limited numbers particularly in the Great War years and ceased trading in 1922.In 1911 Metz introduced the Model 22 which had a 4 cylinder engine and used a friction drive concept. Only one body style was available and the colour was dark blue with cream wheels. This was a two person roadster without doors. An available option to increase seating capacity was either a single seat or a double seat that could be mounted on the tool box at the rear of the car. This particular example of a Metz 22 from 1912 has lain dormant for many years and is now in need of restoration. It is a complete car however and looks to be in quite good condition despite its lack of use. Not much of its history is known but it still features many of its original details and will make a great restoration project for anyone interested in Edwardian 'brass' period automobiles.
