  McCrae thanks the recipient for her letter of congratulations on receiving an O.B.E. and comments that '...they are not the letters after my name that bother me, but the myriads of congratulatory ones coming thru the post...writing, writing, writing...and no money for it either...' . McCrae goes on to describe himself as 'a Grubb-street aborigine' and laments that 'the conditions are ordinary.' signed and dated Jan 31 1953. with a signed print of a religious figure by Lionel Lindsay. (2).
