Lot Description:An Indian silver wine jug of historical Royal family interest, 19th Century
with all-over floral chased decoration & intertwined snake handle. Base with inset handwritten paper card "From The Prince Of Wales" & engraved "Given by H.R.H THE PRINCE OF WALES, To The REV'D ARTHUR ROBINS Christmas 1883". Rev. Arthur Robins (1834-1899) Rector or Holy Trinity Church Windsor 1882-1899, was known as "The Soldier's Bishop" after being appointed by Queen Victoria to Her Majesty's household troops at Windsor. Robins anonymously published 2 novels "Miriam May" [1860] & "Crispin Ken" [1861], both of which preached about the morals of fallen women, unwed mothers & the sanctity of marriage. Original gilt finish.
