with unframed 'PAID/AT/BRISTOL' h/s & rated '1/-' for 10d rate to London + 2d outwards shipletter, London tombstone & Paid Ship Letter d/s both in red, fine strike of the scarce first type boxed 'SHIPLETTER/3DE3/1838' b/s (36x28mm; recorded '13MY13/1837' to '8DE8/1839' only) & rated '9' for 4d inwards shipletter + 5d inland rate, minor blemishes & light soiling. Prossers Plains PO opened 4/8/1838 (three days before this letter was written); renamed Buckland 1884.
