    Painted in Maningrida, Northern Territory; Private Collection, Victoria
  • Notes:
    Luma Luma the giant taught the Kunwinjku people the sacred knowledge of the Mardayin ceremony, however, he did not teach all the sacred information, instead using his knowledge for his own benefit . Luma, demanded favours, especially of women, in return for the sacred knowledge which angered the Binninj men. Because of Luma Luma's constant taking of their women, both skin groups joined forces and killed Luma by spearing him while he slept under a tree.
