    1936 Indian Chief
  • Notes:
IMMACULATE CLASSIC This particular machine represents the pinnacle of pre-war Big Chief design. Considered by many to be superior to the later models because of their comparatively lightweight design and more refined centre of gravity, the 1937 Chief has a rider-characteristic unique to its period of design. Superior manufacturing philosophies and the refined design positions the ’36 as one of the most collectable of the now iconic big Chiefs. The machine has undergone a full mechanical rebuild by legendary US based Bob Starks (www.starklite.com) who’s family have been working with Indian Motorcycle since 1918. Over this period of time the Stark family have earnt a reputation for having an extremely strong understanding of the design philosophy imbedded within Indian motorcycle. The 1937 Indian Chief is certainly a design master piece, and having been rebuilt by Bob Stark it is quite literally new and improved. The ’36 in many ways was the bike that instilled the Indian Chief deep into the heart of 20th-century popular culture. Reflecting this was the fact that the ‘36, Indian Chief sold more units than did Harley-Davidson which underscored that fact that the Chief was considered to be the best large-capacity machine of the day (of course, this opinion shifted if you were a Harley fan of the day). 1936 Indian This particular machine represents the pinnacle of pre-war Big Chief design.
