  Ann had been wanting one of Alma's paintings for a long time, she had watched her work and loved her style of painting. Ann recognised the sadness in Alma's paintings, something not everyone sees. I think they both shared a great understanding of the human condition, and the need for humility. Ann hounded me for a work. Alma passed away, and I hadn't got her one, and she was devastated. Initially we were all so sad no wanted to sell any of the paintings, but finally because it was for Ann, who the family had met on a number of occasions, they decided to release this painting. Ann of course was ecstatic, and I know she loved this work so much. I was so glad that it went to someone who would greatly appreciated the work, and the family wanted this also. I know it bought her much joy, she would always tell me how it never bored her, and she was always seeing new things in the painting.. Emily Rohr, Short Street Gallery
