  Please note that the funds raised will be used to buy a mobility van for Burt’s daughter. Bid well, bid generously. This lot includes two Indian pistons inscribed by Burt, two Velocette pistons, an oversized Indian valve and one alloy conrod. There are assorted letters written by Burt from the USA, a range of period news clippings and photos, speed verification certificates signed by Bob Myer and official results. Also included is a note from ‘Bobby’ which reads:'Bert, 71 years of age, competed on his 885cc 1921 Indian streamliner. For the first two days, he had rich carburettor problems and on the third day had eliminated them. On Thursday, he took down his motor and replaced a shattered bearing seal with a plastic oil can bottom and glued his mag slip ring together with epoxy glue to come out again on the Friday. Bert did not break his A.M.A world record of 176mph two run average but he did set a reliability record for the week. The week finished on Sat. Aug. 23rd with a holed piston after entering the 1st mile at 170 mph' It goes on to note that, on the Friday, Burt was recorded doing 181.26mph on a single run; only 2mph off his one-way record of 183.58mph. Additional items include: 23 loose images Two full scrap books of Burt’s - they are very interesting – plenty of photos, correspondence – including a legal settlement compensating Burt for a blow to the left eye he received in Australia. Also confirmation of speed results. 5 pistons from both the Indian and the Vellocette – all hand produced. Radical valve – all hand produced. Alloy conrod – all hand produced. A selection of contemporary material relating to the film.
