• Notes:
  The young girl is probably Kathleen, daughter of Annie & Frederick McCubbin. The artist was a friend of the McCubbins & governess to their children. he girls colouring and red hair are similar to other examples of Kathleen shown in some of Frederick McCubbins paintings of his children. Jane Price was part of the Heidelberg group of painters in Melbourne. Although she had moved to Sydney in 1907, she moved between the two cities a number of times. There are two tin struts holding the portrait in positon, appearing to be cut from a sign used by Jane Price (one with remnants of lettering reading 'R Price'). The framing is crude but original, & probably assembled by the artist.
