  • Notes:
Zaalberg's son Meindert (1907-1989) became the manager of Potterij Zaalberg in 1937. He stressed simple form and glazes. Meindert spent time studying Chinese and Japanese ceramics and often traveled to London to learn the latest styles. Even after World War II, Meindert kept the focus on handcrafted, artistic pieces. In 1958, Meindert purchased the Uitspanning Het Witte Huis on the Hoge Jijndijk and established a pottery there. Meindert's two sons Herman II (born 1935) and Gijbert (born 1937) assumed control of Potterij Zaalberg in 1963. Meindert moved to Ommen where he established Zaalberg Pottershuis Ommen. He marked the pieces produced there 'Marco Polo.' Professional production ended at Potterij Zaalberg in 2001. Herman II moved to Leiderdrop in the province of Zuid and established his own studio, retaining the Potterij Zaalberg name.
