A gilt-brass mounted ebonised bracket clock, signed Francis Dorrell, London
the ebonised bell top case with pineapple finials, above a break arch dial, with date aperture, subsidiary dial in the break arch and gilt spandrels, the two train fusee movement with five knopped pillars, anchor escapement converted from verge, striking on a single bell, within a glazed ebonised case raised on brass bracket feet
    48cm high, 32cm wide, 21cm deep
  • Notes:
Condition: This clock is in fair condition. The case shows evidence of age with some splitting of the lacquer to the pagoda top. The clock is currently non working and requires servicing. The key and pendulum are both present. The clock, as described, has been converted from verge to an anchor escapement - this is an old conversion. The style of the clock suggests possibly 1780 but the conversion may be Victorian. The engraving to the rear of the mechanism is somewhat naive and not as refined as may be expected - please see additional photo to illustrate
