  • Notes:
Sunday Reed, Nolan's patron and lover, was a keen gardener at Heide and much of her work can still be seen there today. Several of Nolan's most evocative images of Sunday represent her among the flowers and trees she nurtured, such as Rosa Mutabilis, 1945, in the collection of Heide Museum of Modern Art, Melbourne. When Nolan left Heide Sunday was devastated and later planted what she called the Heart Garden in his memory, a heart-shaped bed filled with plants such as forget-me-nots and heart's ease.
