    This charger is part of a series by Clarice Cliff created from 1934-1939, from panels painted by Sir Frank Brangwyn in 1924 to adorn the walls of the Royal Gallery in the House of Lords in order to commemorate deceased soldiers in WWI. Though eventually rejected for being full of 'insistent motives ill accord with the Waterloo Chamber' by the Fine Art Commission of the time, three of the panels were made into porcelain chargers by Cliff after being displayed at the Ideal Home Exhibition, Olympia. Condition: Small chip to glaze on rim. No crack or restorations evident. Does not fluoresce under blacklight.
