Accompanying certificate of authenticity from Delmore Gallery reference number IS06. On the certificate of authenticity, Janet Holt wrote: "In this painting the power of the red bare soil is found in the countless fertile seed that lie in wait for the rain that will eventually release incredible growth across the landscape. The visual marvel of the transformation from barren to abundant is a compelling experience. To witness a display of this power, gives a basis for understanding the reverent enthusiasm of the women's ceremonial activities called "awelye." Emily displays her country in bold brazen storms of colour, her colours representing the raw, ripe and dry fruit, the seed, flower, or plant stalk. These elements are all parts of the life cycle, often scattered by the drift of the wind, or clumped in thick carpeted profusion. Emily's ritual authority allows her the social influence over her nieces that hopefully will allow future generations to teach her knowledge or "story." This parallels the nurturing role she has with those bush tucker species that are her ceremonial themes."
