  • Notes:
From the supporting documentation, this painting represents the following story: "Long time ago before the whiteman came for ceremony our ancestors used to use a message stick to let other tribe know when the other tribe had ceremony. By doing that they marked the stick to let them know when the ceremony is being held and where. They knew which tribe sent the stick to follow on for the next ceremony if they went wrong they had to start again. They'd send the stick through wet dry. From one person who sent the stick they'd passed it onto another tribe from there it went on. Back on the old days we had no pen, paper we only had message stick. All the writing on the stick by stone axe. Today in our days we use hot wire or file. They used pine tree to make the message stick."
