Description:THE AUSTRALIAN ART COLLECTION OF SANDRA POWELL & ANDREW KING
Sandra Powell and Andrew King have been collecting works by some of Australia's leading artists for over twenty years. Each have their own tastes. Sandra sourced iconic modernists, like Sidney Nolan and Joy Hester and Andrew preferred the likes of Clarice Beckett. The couple began to collect in the early 1990s and continued to add key pieces bought at auction and through galleries until about seven years ago when they began to focus on the very different genre of Street Art.
Now know as being among the most avid collectors of art by street artists and graffiti writers, with a collection of over one thousand pieces by most of the world's biggest names, they find that they are quickly running out of walls in their grand Melbourne home.
Having decided to focus their collecting passions soley on street artists, Sandra and Andrew were left with little choice but to clear some room and are now ready to depart with the remainder of their impressive twentieth century art collection.
We are delighted to have been entrusted with the sale of this important collect and look forward to seeing you at the viewings.
