Notes:AG Plate was an exhibiting artist, writer, photographer & merchant seaman. He voyaged throughout the Pacific from 1887 until late 1903 & throughout the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia) & Asia from 1901-1907, while he was writing a travel book: 'Voyage Through Eastern Seas.' Dates in New Guinea (PNG) & the Solomon Islands include: August 1901; January 1902; September - Dec 1903. The greater part of his collection formed part of the Ward collection after AG Plate's death in 1914, it is now held by the Australian Museum in Sydney.
