    The Captain's bookcase, cedar, Melbourne origin, mid 19th century
    this primitive bookcase is purported to have been made for a sea captain who resided in an old house (c1850s) on the corner of Yewer st and Moreland street on the banks of the Maribyrnong River in Melbourne's inner west. Construction techniques suggest it was made by a ship's carpenter with the use of heavy brass hardware 242cm high, 149cm wide, 53cm deep
