    The interior gilded, with a cabochon gemstone thumbpiece. The exterior ornamented with the initials ‘TT’ in gold. Workmaster Anders Johan Nevalainen (1858–1933), Moscow hallmark for 1899–1908.

    This case is in the distinctive samodorok technique in which the newly-cast silver was rapidly cooled, causing the highly tactile, rippled effect.
