• Notes:
  Catherine Cocker is of mainly Tongan and Scottish descent and was raised in Auckland and Waipu, Aotearoa (NZ). She completed a Bachelor of Fine Art in 2010 at Otago Polytechnic, then graduated from Massey University in 2012 with a Post Graduate Diploma in Visual Art, specialising in Maori art. Her work is primarily concerned with the effects of colonisation upon the Pacific. This extends to the practice of Christianity in Pacific cultures and its problematic position as a superior religion. Furthermore, her work calls into question the concurrent introduction of Christianity and Science through colonisation and the resulting physical, genetic and social consequences on the Pacific culture and ecological environment.
