Its normal level can be seen on rock face. / Although the annual rainfall is barely 10 inches, water plays its part in wearing down Ayers Rock. Summer rain storms on the heated rock cause it to flake away at an accelerating rate, due to the sudden contraction of the outer skin of rock over the still expanded mother stone; bears artist’s studio stamp verso
