  The print depicts four Sopwith Camels of 209 Squadron on patrol in 1918. Tom Sopwith was an Australian who went to the UK to learn to fly and having become a first class pilot turned his attention to the design and construction of aeroplanes. His first aircraft was built in 1912 and was immediately ordered by the government. His most famous aircraft was the Sopwith Camel. The Sopwith Aviation Co Ltd ceased operating at the end of WWI
