    1947 Allard L-Type Tourer
    Chassis: 255 Engine: 3G455951
  • Notes:
The Allard Motor Company was founded in 1946 in South London though the real history starts with the first true Allard built in 1936. The first production cars produced after the second world war were a two-seater sports model, the 'K' (later referred to and called the 'K1') and the 'L', a four-seater tourer. Sydney Allard driving in his own cars later took third place in the 1950 Le Mans 24 hr race and won the 1952 Monte Carlos rally ahead of second placed Stirling Moss. This 1947 Allard L Type tourer was one of the very first shipment of Allards to Australia - the current owner's father, a specialist collector of the Allard marque has at one time owned all three of these first cars delivered to Australia. In current family ownership for the last 30 years after being found in Murrumbeena, this vehicle underwent a full restoration eight years ago but remained unused due to ill-health of the owner's father. Recently recommissioned to running order, this lovely cream car with chocolate brown mudguards is ready for a new owner. In all the Allard Motor Company built just 1900 cars in total between 1946 and 1959, evolving from the 12 pre-war specials, making this exceptional L Type tourer a very interesting and rare motor car.
