    Ryubundo mark [龍文堂造] to the cover, Terufusa​ [照房造] mark to the body, late Edo to early Meiji period, 19th century

  • Provenance:
    Miklos Grunberg (1918-1988), Sydney; Mossgreen, Melbourne, 2 June 2008, lot 324; Melbourne private collection
  • Notes:
    Ryubundo represents one of the two main schools of Tetsubin in Kyoto, the other being Kinjudo (see lot 119). Terufusa, most likely Ueta Terufusa [????], is one of the four renowned makers in the early era of Ryubundo, active during the late Edo and early Meiji period.
