  Ducati 1198S 2010 - Replica of the successful Ducati World Superbike racers
  VIN ZDMH704AAAB029483 This 2010 Ducati 1198 S is presented in colours replicating the factory World Superbike racers not the red, whiter and black 1198 S Corse colours. It is offered in excellent running condition but there is evidence of minor body damage and previous crankcase repair. Bike would ben from mechanical attention for rear cylinder oil leak. Accompanying the sale is one key and no books. This motorcycle is sold unregistered.

  Although the 1098 had enjoyed considerable success in the two years since its release for 2009 the 1198 replaced it. While maintaining the look of the previous 1098 the 1198 was actually a completely new model. The higher performance 1198 S only lasted for two years, replaced by the 1198 SP in 2011. The 1198 S engine shared the bore and stroke (106x67.9mm) of the World Superbike homologation model, the 1098 R, and incorporated a number of updates over the 1098. These included larger valves (43.5mm intake and 35.5mm exhausts), actuated by racing-type rocker arms, 'super-finished' for reduced friction and fatigue, and camshafts with 10% more lift. The 12.7:1 pistons featured a double-ribbed undercrown to achieve high strength and reduced friction with minimal piston wall surface area and a new vacuum die-cast crankcase saved 3kg. Gold coloured magnesium cam covers also saved weight. To cope with the increased power and torque the 1198 gearbox shared the 1098 R's internal ratios and the shot-peened high strength wider teeth steel gears. The elliptical throttle bodies were increased in cross-sectional area by 13.3% compared to the 1098, now equivalent to 63.9mm diameter, the same as the 'R' model. The symmetrical 2-1-2-exhaust system used 52mm-57mm diameter tubing with a wall thickness of 0.8mm and included a catalytic converter and two lambda probes for smooth engine mapping and Euro3 conformity. The power was now 170 horsepower at 9,750rpm. The trellis steel frame was unchanged; with 34mm main section tubes 1.5mm thick, while the 1198 was offered as a Biposto the 1198 S was Monoposto only. The 1198 included Showa suspension while the 1198 S featured a higher specification 43mm &Öhlins fork with titanium nitride-treated sliders, with Brembo radial brake caliper mountings and an & Öhlins rear shock absorber. The single-sided aluminium swingarm was unchanged from the 1098 as were the 330mm front Brembo Monobloc brake calipers with 34mm pistons. New for the 1198 S were seven-spoke forged and machined Marchesini wheels. Further weight saving extended to a cast-magnesium front headlamp mount and the 1198's two polyellipsoidal headlights saved 0.4kg over the 1098. The taillight and indicators used LEDs and the 1198 S included an & Öhlins steering damper. Along with the increase in power the most significant update on the 1198 S was the inclusion of electronic traction control. Accessible from the left-hand switchgear and displayed on the digital instrumentation, this offered a choice of eight profiles each programmed with a wheel-spin tolerance matched to a progressive riding skill. With a dry weight of only 169kg the 1198S offered class-leading performance. To celebrate winning the 2009 World Superbike and Superstock Manufacturers' titles Ducati presented two Corse special editions, both also marking the introduction of a new Ducati Corse logo. The 1198 S Corse Special Edition featured a larger capacity factory team-style aluminium fuel tanks, and a matching natural aluminium swingarm
