    A Queen Anne sterling silver covered tankard of early design. Made by John Gibbons of London, circa 1702. C
    ircular reed and flute decorated raised plinth base with vertically fluted sides and bands of wriggle work. Stamped floral motif and a large engraving cartouche with armorial engraved crest to centre front flanked by embossed fruiting vine leaves. Hinged flat cover with raised platform to the centre part and a central floral design with radiating flute decoration. Reeded overhanging flat rimmed top with large cast Rococo form thumb piece with scroll top and original hinge to the heavy gauge hollow tapering loop handle of serpentine form.
    20.3cm high and an impressive 1000 grams
