Barramundi and Shoveller Birds, c. 1964
natural earth pigments on eucalyptus bark
70.0 x 25.5cm (27 9/16 x 10 1/16in).
damaged label attached verso: "Artist: Baku Ray / Tribe: Jinang now living at manin- / grida N.T. / Painting: / A big barramundi showing h.../ his stomach (black) and 2 shoveller birds. They are the painter's totems...he calls them 'my father'" -
