Provenance:Private collection Melbourne, previously by direct Striezel family descent.

Notes:German born Striezel emigrated to Australia in 1886 and worked with fellow German carver Robert Prenzel in Melbourne. Works by Striezel are extremely rare. A similar pair of plaques can be found in The NGV collection (National Gallery Of Victoria).
