  • Lot Description:
    1989 FIAT NIKI
  • Notes:
In 1931, Fiat granted a licence to a Polish company to manufacturer vehicles. During the 1970s these assembly lines built models of Bambinos with some branded as Nikis. Introduced in 1972 to replace the iconic rear-engined Fiat 500, the range was known as the Polska Fiat 126. Despite clever marketing, the 126 never achieved the frenzied popularity of the 500. In many markets, Fiat sales of the 126 stopped in 1993 in favour of their new front-engined 500. It may seem impossible but the total sales of this model are almost 4.7 million units and in close range of the fabulous Mini’s 5.4 million despite starting production 14 years later and production ending the year 2000. This vehicle was owned by Mr. Jeff McQuire of Adelaide. He came in to possession of it by winning a lottery conducted by the Cancer Council of South Australia. Mr McQuire sold the car and donated the proceeds back to the Cancer Council. We have little information other than we believe it was given to Clem by his life time friend Michael Finnis to top off his line-up of Bambino Fiats. This vehicle will be sold unregistered. NO RESERVE.
