Notes:A NOTE FROM WARWICK BROWN: Hotere was a conservationist. He is reported to have described his black paint-bombing of the Aramoana Smelter site notice, as "the best painting I ever did". This collage drawing is derived from a photograph taken of the defaced sign. The artist produced a number of works based on the Smelter proposal. However, because of massive local protests, the proposal was abandoned.
