    A rare 1887 New Zealand silver medal ‘For Services Rendered At Fire’
    made by and marked F.S.Wylie (probably Thames Street, Oamaru), oval form with floral cast frame enclosing central panel, the front engraved with horse drawn carriage with three fireman, the reverse engraved: ‘Presented To Captain Alexr. McLachlan by the Shortland V.F. Brigade for Services Rendered At Fire, 15th March 1887’, with suspension mount of a helmet and crossed axes, the red ribbon with conforming silver suspension bar with applied initials S.V.F.B.
