    A Indonesian Barang Sword
    plain steel blade secured to handle with white metal ferrule and wire binding. Hilt in the form of kakatua (cockatoo beak) in light coloured finely figured burlwood known as bunti, with carved protrusions. With wooden sheath (repaired). A/F. Borneo, Indonesia.

    Gift of the late Paul Coasack, originally bought back from Borneo after WWII by his uncle, surgeon Jim Russell, author of the book, "Borneo Doctor".
