    Old Used Hard Wood Asmat Shield
    with ray fish head and various iconography including flying fox design, shell nose piece and a human figure. Heavy wood showing signs of use. Some damage to head. A/F. Body design with: flying fox (tar, tare, te), shell nose piece (mbipane) or heron (pomar) and a rare human figure. Asmat region, West Papua.

  • Provenance:
    ex. Todd Barlin, who made many art collecting trips to PNG, West Papua and the Pacific and has run the Oceanic Arts Australia Gallery in Sydney for over 20 years. During this time he has supplied Oceanic art to many important institutions including the National Gallery of Australia and the Quay Branly.
